How to make illegal positions
In that one with two rooks ganging up on the king in the corner ... suppose that the last move was rook takes pawn, check mate. Just before that the other rook put the king in check when he was at G8. That rook was unprotected, and the king could have taken it, but instead hid behind that pawn at H7. Then the other rook takes that H7 pawn, check mate.

How do u make it blank
8//8/8/8/8/8/8 w KQkq - 0 1
this pasted into the FEN will leave the board blank :)
The first position is legal, aside from the fact that White doesn't have a king.
Ha! Ha! What a funny forum with all these crazy positions! Here is another one as crazy as the others:
Is it just me who don't get the point of all this?
The 1st one was amusing, now it's all just variations on a theme...

I agree. I was hoping that members will post illegal checkmates or positions that look like they were taken from a normal game but with one little "illegal" detail. That would actually be fun. But here everyone is only saying "look, I can write FEN codes on my own!" Not much creativity in that.
@Nightshadow - I guess I didn't look closely enough. It can't be forced at least. Or can it be?
of all the stupid posts - this takes the cake.
Erik - award required here.
there are so many such "impossible" positions that are possible that it would be imossible to ennumerate all and anyway what is the point?

The point, presumably, would be to make interesting illegal positions, such as:
As far as I know, all double-stalemate positions will be variations on this theme (and certainly all will be illegal).
One of those positions seems possible. That black bishop might not have been a charter member, but might instead have been the result of a promotion. I mean, assuming that anyone would actually promote to a bishop!
Yes, but none of the white pawns have moved, but the white rook has jumped over them. So that last position of SerbianChessStar's is illegal.
and my second one was illegal, my first one was the only legal one/.
Your first one was illegal, how could the white bishop have gotten out?
Oh, I see. The white bishop could have been the result of a promotion.
