Personally I listen to Classical when playing in OTB tournaments. Blocks out alot of the noice in the room. (No sqeeky chairs, doors, or anything else)

I love listening to music when I'm playing chess for laughs (unrated) late at night.
What does anyone think about listening to music whilst playing chess.
Does it distract the brain and blunt concentration or does it some way enhance the ability to calculate?
