No one can say for sure. If your dedicated and practice and study well you might earn a title one day. You might not though. But if you enjoy playing chess then play for the enjoyment of it and if a title comes your way, great!

If you like to set goals for yourself, it might work best if you set goals achievable in a short period of time.
So let's say you are 1400 OTB right now (just a random example), then you can make it your goal te become 1500+, When you reach that you aim for 1600, etc. If you can reach a title it will become your next goal when it is not so far away.

Ive been playing chess for a while since highschool and so far its going great. I have a great chess club and everybody is friendly. The one thing I would like to know is whether if i put ten years into chess will i ever get a title? I really like chess and have a love for the game because it makes me feel good inside. Ever since ive found chess.com my enjoyment of the game has increased. Its a community of people all over the world that have a love for the game and thats where I would like to stay, the heart of the chess community. Another reason I play chess is to feel good about myself when I get better. Chess helps me with my illness and that makes me feel reassured that chess is the greatest game ever!!!!
