The Unhappy Life of a Queen

The queen was unhappy. Not only was the king a slow-moving plodder, she had started to develop doubts about him. Recently she had noticed him seeming to perform an intimate act with the rook, where they were closer together than she had ever managed with him – when challenged he said Castling was an ancient and noble maneuver. “Oh-Oh” was all she could think. Things were no better when she discovered that her husband had a secret plan to promote all his pawns into spare queens, making her redundant. The final straw was when he announced that there might have to be a queen sacrifice to win the game.

Frustrated she looked around for solace. She had no female companionship so decided to have an affair. The rook, although his moves seemed so straight, she could not trust after the whole castling thing. The bishop wore a frock, which she could not get her head round and besides he had taken holy vows. The pawn said he would obey but could only take her at an angle and could not look at her at the same time. That only left the knight. Things went well till one day she caught him with another piece. He said, “Honey, you should have known, us knights jump everything...”

There's no real moral to this, but next time you play consider the poor queen – she has to do all the dangerous work, is taken for granted and seldom survives a game. And although she starts out beside her man, inevitably he sends her off to mate with his sworn enemy, the other king. And they wonder why so few women play chess? Only a man could ask!

Nice one! Poor Queen :(.

But always good to know that man depend on woman. The king is a pretty useless piece! Why do we actually lose if it's dead, the queen is waaay more important ;)?

On the other hand, who is the one that gets revived the most after death in an endgame? I think that's a sign of pure love. Wink
