What's a rook player?

I often find that phrase in Tactics Trainer comments.

"I missed that like a rook player"

And I'm curious what's wrong with such an innocent rook that it's always mentioned as a failure.

Why not a pawn player? The pawn is tamer and lamer.

One of the few things I like about V3 is that it makes it harder to read the comments.  Is there any chance that "rook" is meant as an abbreviation of the term "rookie" as in beginner or "newbie"?  The phrase then makes much more sense.

I think it's due to the odds that weaker players received. So, "rook player" means one who usually received rook odds, since the rook is very powerful, so rook player is much weaker

This makes sense. Then I might be a queen player (or a four minors player)!

That's logical. I thought of that too but typing 'rook player' is way too long than a 'rookie'.
