Which is better? Chess or checkers?

I don't know which is better, but I can tell you which one is more fun!

Checkers: Pieces move diagonally, but only one piece at a time.

Chess: Two pieces move diagonally, but can control more spaces at a time.

WINNER: Chess.         SCORE:   1  -  0

Checkers: Multiple kings can be generated if pieces make it all the way to the back of the board

Chess: A promotional queen can be generated if pawn makes it all the way to the back of the board. However, in checkers, the "kinged" kings can still only move one square at a time, forward or backward, while a promoted queen can control many other squares at a time.

Checkers: Object of checkers is to remove all of your opponents pieces, being the last piece standing

Chess: Object of chess is to pin your opponents king so that he cannot move anywhere ( hence, checkmate) and requires much more brain activity then checkers.

Checkers: No ELO

Chess: ELO, which when high enough, generates bragging rights and legends in ones own mind that they are the best and cannot be defeated because they are indeed the best.

Checkers: When played, opponents may have had so much fun that they want to play again.

Chess: When played, opponents may be shocked in disbelief to find that, despite their cunning planning and high intelligence, despite how smart they thought they were, find themselves in such dismay that they could possibly be defeated and that their plan didn't work, which generates levels of anguish to the point where they demand a rematch to cover up the mental wound that has been blown on their ego. ( Results in full blown anger if they lose again.)

Checkers: Simplified game, fairly easy to calculate moves

Chess: Game begins pretty simplified, however, can and will lead to complex moves, hence is much more challenging to play then checkers.

Checkers: Pieces can "jump" over pieces

Chess: Two pieces that can "jump" over pieces ( the knights), however, cannot double jump over pieces once move has been made.

WINNER: Checkers.    SCORE: 4  -  3

Checkers: Pleasant to play

Chess: Unpleasant due to arrogance of some players who cannot accept the fact that its just a game!

Well, there ya have it! Both games have their ups and downs, both games can be fun, for me, though, its chess all the way. To say which game is better, for every peak, there's a valley, if you know what I mean. Depends on your taste, but it cannot be denied, more players play chess globally. Doesn't necessarily make it a better game.

Checkers is for tramps? Come on! They have to play games, too, you know!

Both are actually equally bad. Chinese chess is much better, which pieces flying over other pieces and king confined to a small space.

I played Chinese chess when I was a teenager (oh, about 50 years ago, or so). Very different game played on lines, not squares, with elephants that can't cross the river in the middle of the board, with cannons that attacked over a piece, either friend or foe, and an emperor that cannot leave his palace.

Very different game -  and better than Chinese checkers . . .
