i just had a great game where i checkmated my opponent in 3 moves  Coolbut did not get any points for the game.Cry

can u guys tell me if it is an official rule that a game has to be of 4 moves and above for it to be classified as an actual game?

or is it just a bug at chess.com?

wahing

prove that to me.

hitman4204

@wahing...proof posted above

King_me

thanks jactan :)

Funnily enough, I just lost 67 points for resigning a game after 3 moves as I didn't want to have games going when I went on holiday.

I had been under the impression that it took 4 moves for the game to be "official" and therefore didn't think it would be a problem.

Interesting that you won no points, but I managed to lose them in my game!Undecided

i could not make my move.....

You had no move left to make!

MetalK

hence checkmate

hitman4204

but my point is that a win is a win...why is a 4 move checkmate official and a 3 move checkmate not??

chess.com staff should have a look at this..

@evil_homer...sorry u lost so many points man!

@wahing...how the hell can u make a move in a game that has already been played?

1chessking

at least you won!

Allanxbox

cool checkmate in 3!?

you can win by just seeing the King with like the queen or the one who runs fast?

i didnt knowEmbarassed

@1chessking...i get your point man..all i want to know is whether under the official rules of chess only a victory of 4 moves and above is recognized and rewarded with points?

feyterman

this is a serious flaw in chess.com. somebody must be contacted about this. Erik! Help us!

hitman4204

i agree...some explanation from the chess.com staff is needed.

I don't get it. I go to your profile, and it says you haven't played any games. You said in your diagram that it was online chess at chess.com and round 1 of some tournament. Was this live, or on another site or something?

Anyways, I agree that if there is a minimum limit for # of moves, it should be placed at 4 half moves to allow for all legal checkmates.

Yes, so it is live chess. That is what I was asking. You said in your diagram in the OP that it was 'online chess' and that it was round 1 of some tournament. That is why I was confused.

hitman4204, I agree with you that you should get points for that game.  :)  They probably have a rule where you need to make at least 4 moves to count, but I am not sure.  :)  I think the minimum should be 1 or 2 moves since it is possible to blunder by move 4.
