I very much enjoyed the annotations. Well done.
Even chess gods are human !

Once again, really impressive. I think you and I had a bit too much respect for the GM when playing back these moves... I realize now that black, incredibly, played the entire game unbelievably passively for someone so strong. Perhaps that was a provocative strategy of his? Figuring you would have to collapse in over-aggression? I commend your courage to, as you say "attack such a strong player," playing a psychologically tricky move, but against someone as strong as a grandmaster! Weren't you afraid he might refute your play?
He really never made an attempt to get the initiative and played defensively the entire game. This must still be stupendously satisfying to this day.

Perfect, Laurent! Bravo Thanks for linking me to this on my blog post: http://tinyurl.com/goliathchess

cool, thanks so much for sharing! i really loved the annotations. i can't imagine how good you must have felt after scalping that GM - awesome stuff!

The H-pawn advance and bishop sac to expose the king BRILLIANT play !! the sharpness of the attack that allowed almost no counterplay ( let alone defence of the exposed king) i thought was pretty amazing . BRAVO !!

Wow. Just hope that I can learn to play like this someday. I never would have seen the d-pawn push, let alone the bisop sac.

Fantastic game - and great annotation. A few more games like that and you'll have almost enough material for a book...

Really, Bravo Laurent, in this play the victory is your without contest!
I'm impressed,
Your adversary wanted to too quickly finish the part without really reflecting, and you knew to show a force to show with this GM, which should not be taken his adversary with light…
Awsomne!
Are there any theoretical problems with 6...Nbd7? Because I like the looks of the QGA, but wouldn't want to allow a virtual draw offer (unless I really wanted one) with an early ...c5 and if white wanted to ruin the fun, trade queens. I think in the game explorer it's like 80-90% draws or something, lol.
It seemed to transpose to some normal line after your moves.
I'm not aware of any specific problem with 6...Nbd7, although the move is pretty rare at professional level. It's certainly intended to prevent an early Q trade, and worked wonderfully in this regard
