I agree that playing d2-d4 after d7-d6 is the best move in the phillidor. It forces exd4 because of the threat of dxe5 and exchanging queens. Anyway, good game! I have encountered the phillidor's defense three times in my chess playing campaign. I hate it because it doesn't allow me to play the Ruy Lopez, the opening in which I'm the most confident. The Ruy has given me a favorable score. I have been iffy about bishop to c4 beccause of my loss. But anyway, good game!

thanks for the compliments :)
i agree that playing d2-d4 is good against the philidor. i enjoy open games so this more or less forces black to make the exchange.
here's a recent turn-base game i played on chess.com. my opponent was about 100 points higher than me and this was the first time i had faced the philidor defense. i was eager to see how the game would turn out against this defense and it seemed that my constant aggression worked well. check it out and all comments are welcome.
