Even if he was developing his pawn structure, how does a pawn chain on e7/f6/g5 help anything? I'm not all that great a player, but I can pick out the problems there rather quickly....

Indeed. The thing that suprised me most when he made those pawn moves was that this guy was a decently rated player.

Wasn't really expecting this to happen. I thought the Fool's Mate was too obvious to fall for, though maybe my opponent really wasn't thinking about it and was just trying to develop his pawn structure.
