Beginner Strategy (My thought process during a game)

This is a blitz game I had versus a 1200+ rated player. The time controls where 5 minutes with 8 seconds added after each move taken. This game features annotations which will be useful to newer players to the game who already know how to play the game but want a better idea for basic general strategy. Hopefully my thought process will help give you an idea about what to think about during each move of the game. I chose this game because of its simplicity. Feel free to leave feedback. Enjoy!

I made some very bad mistakes, but overall the tips mentioned in this post helped me a lot, especially the bishop on b2. 

However, I did not get to perform the glorious checkmate at the end though.
