Actually, after your opponent moves, just ask yourself "what is the drawback of that move?" You may find a tactical shot if that move does have a drawback. The lower rated the opponent, the earlier a mistake will be made by him/her. But I guess you can add Kramnik to the ranks of Patzer since he missed being mated in one.
How to play against patzers
Interesting, a guy in a game where he is getting killed calls the other fellow a patzer because he got a little greedy and played one hasty move which allowed you to win. You clearly didn't win this game on skill and if you continue to play in this fashion, just giving your opponent pawns and pieces then you are headed for a lot of lost games in the future. I agree with the one post, what great queen trap? all you did was trade queens big deal.

guess there are different grades of patzers ...
That is the point !
Everyone with a rating below Carlsen is a patzer.
Compared to Rybka Carlsen is also a patzer ....
Patzer wherever you look !

No, everyone with a rating below mine is a patzer.
Everyone with a rating above mine is a cheater....

for every one here that has the iq slightly higher than the average bear, please understand that this is PROBABLY A JOKE. dont be stupid. everybody is a patzer to kasparov.

OK, we've agreed this guy is either a jerk or a troll and that skill is relative. Please move on in an orderly fashion to the waffle portion of the thread. Thank you.

Don't expect me to go out quietly.

You develop your pieces quickly, & fight for the center, like Bobby Fischer said. Usually you want to castle early & on the K-side.The position on the board will dicktate which side you castle, or sometimes if the Center is locked up, you can get away with keeping your King in the middle of the board. When you're up material, you usually should trade pieces down, to simplify the game & bring it closer to the endgame.
Don't hang your Pieces, either. When you have the Won game, see it through W/ concentration & perseverance... remembering the old chess axiom--- "The hardest thing to win is a won game". Of course, I'm only
@1572 rating right now, but I reached 1845 & climbing, till I lost over 70 games on time. I had two 1900 players up a knight in the endgame & would've been almost 1900 rating. Take care of yourselves & keep it real.

Perfectly beautiful, great advice. But, to quote Shakespeare, in this context it seems like throwing pearls before swine.
Man i consider myself a patzer compared to how many good players there are and this guy...
