I just loved my recovery, here

I would have certainly traded dark squared bishops in the Advanced French (Especially after ...g7-g6!). Look at all those weak dark squares!
I believe your downfall started with Qg4. You set yourself up for this discovery ...e6-e5 which allows him strong control of the center. However, the main point to consider in order to improve is "What does Qg4 accomplish?"
Implement this question into your thought process and you have become a better chess player :D

6. Bxe7 was absolutely correct. Black has commited three pawns to light squares, making his dark-squared bishop the most mobile of his minor pieces. This move trades a bad piece of yours for a good piece of his.

On second look... I guess h4-h5 is alright paired with Qg4 but this move still looks artificial. I guess the better question point to make is to look at your opponent's counterplay or plans.

I'm not sure why I did Qg4, either. I think I was trying to gain initiative, but not in a very good way.
