First and foremost, please note that this is NOT a game I played myself. I was studying the Ruy Lopez Exchange. Everything was played according to the book up to 6.d4. After that, machine played an unusual move so I had to come up with an idea. I skimmed and skipped through Pawn Structure Chess of Soltis to look for similar structure and the idea he suggested was c2-c5. So, I decided to simplify the position by exchanging queens. All the moves were suggested by machine but I was the one to decide after carefully considering my understanding of the position afterward.
I wanted to learn how to advance c2-c5 in the most logical way (at my level). The reason I want to study this variation is because it is simple and is the most encountered variation I have seen online (about 30 unrated games). Please give any suggestion on this game so that I can tailor a plan that fit my understanding. Thanks!
