funandnice; your favourite miniatures of all time were played by yourself? I think you misunderstood the point of the thread. The above game was rrrt posted was rrrrreti-tartakower. This is one of my favourite's. The humourous annotation by Marshall makes it worth showing anyway.

For whatever reason, nothing shows up on your last post. Anyway, there's not mate in 3 if black plays 1. ... Kf6. Of course, white is overwhelmingly winning that position, e.g. 2. Rxe7 Qxe7 3. Bg5

Funandnice, I understand the mate after 1. ... Kf8. How does white checkmate after 1. ... Kf6.? That's the king moving to the square f6. That's on the sixth rank, not the eighth rank.
THAT IS THE ANSWER!
Funandnice, only the second diagram has any moves at all and only shows 1. Qh7+, there is nothing in that post to show what while will play after 1. ... Kf6.
