MSC157 vs. Pulpofeira match

I think the dubious 23. f3 could have been answered with a simple retreat of the N and then would have been impossible to prevent the occupation of the post at c4 by the other black N.

Now we're already on page two... so if you want me to look into that, please post the game again on this page.

MSC157

I freaked out when I played Rc7, already seeking an excuse for it, because I only saw Bxb5 ab Nxb5 Qd7 NxR Qx b5!, but only later found Nxb4 could save me.

<MSC157> so it seems that we're in agreement... :-)

CP6033

Interesting idea! Thoughts on playing a lot of games in one day? Say 6 or so? a 6 game match in one day would be most interesting.

<CP6033> we should probably play a match in the same format at some point, don't you think?

if only I had the time... :-)

but we can take it one game at a time and see where it leads us...

Six 15/10 games in one day! Maybe when kids definitely leave home and wife goes to visit her parents. Some chlorophorm could be another option though.

Pulp: I did not realise you played chess!

Usually I don't, it was a moment of weakness!

Just a tip for the opening: In any queen's gambit/slav exchange position try not to move the queen's bishops too early (this goes for both sides). The minute your opponent played 4...Bf5? you should notice how weak his b7 pawn now is. The accurate response 5.Qb3! at least wins a pawn and gives a slightly greater advantage for you. Also, if down the line your opponent now tries to kick/trap your queen with Nbd7 and then Rb8 you can safely snatch the a7 pawn and retreat to a4 and then d1 with the plan to get your pawns rolling down the a and b file. The response you played is fine as well, but falls into the same idea (now you might have to end up baby sitting your b2 pawn later). There are also merits to your move. Both you and your opponent now have your "bad bishops" outside the pawn chain once e3 and e6 are played.

Interesting! I've seen some variations with an early ...Bf5 (or ...Bd7) on the Exchange Slav in De Firmian's book, but only after a previous ...Nc6. Could be the fianchetto  a good solution, like in Semi-Slav?

Are we allowed to nominate the first move in the next game?

Undecided

Next will be 3rd. 1. d4!! looks good to me.

P_or

Another draw :(

d4 is boring.

How about 1. Na3

??

Pulpofeira

That definitely would be fun. I think Usain Bolt should also try to run in the opposite direction sometimes, all athletes always in the same one is boring!

Creo que debería permitir a la audiencia para seleccionar primer movimiento

Have a vote on it :)

MSC157 was completely winning in the last game, but somehow he messed it up. Now it's still tied. This is kind of interesting.

Pulpofeira

He was in a huge time trouble. I think he's been too demanding to himself. Thanks for your comment, master!

Pulpofeira

P_or: you should organize a poll! ;)
