Nice. Really interesting game. I guess it's arguable whether or not 8...Be7 is the "best" move, but I don't see how it loses a tempo.

BTW, who won the match, Malaysia or Canada?

The "losing a tempo" comment was just an off-hand remark referring to the fact that I played Be7 and then soon afterward moved it again with Bc5.

The match? We won, 21 to 17. I won both my games, against the Malaysian top board. If I had lost them, it would have been a 19-19 draw.

Playing black against Stockfish in the Tarrasch Defense to the Queen's Gambit Declined, I found a move Stockfish did not see: 19... Bh3, preventing white from castling. What follows is a positional melee in which black sacrifices two pawns and a knight for an attack which includes a march of passed pawns. In the king-and-rook versus king endgame, black's win is a matter of technique.
