Yea right, the computer was totally incompetent. No GM plays like that, it was a good game, but basically slaughter.

True it is most deffinately not a GM but it is called GM-CPU by Excalibur Electronics. It says it is rated 2200 but i doubt it so I askedfor more oppinions.

shuttlechess92

very good combo move 20-25

Head_Hunter

Is it possible that GM CPU was set to an easy level? If that's the best it can do, then you should write the programmers. I hope you didn't pay for that.

hmcgrier

What rating was Excaliber set to?

hondoham

i'm going with 1500-1700 otb. no major blunders that i could tell.

Andune

It was set to max

I thought it did pretty poorly considering the advertisement. oh well there goes 200 $. Live and Learn:)

in my opinion, black at move 6 should have had played 6..d6, instead of attacking before developing his bishop wich is just blocked...furthermore, it gives white the chance to bring his queen into action and black has no peace to develop with wich it can hunt white's queen and so to speed up his development. just take a look at black's poor position after 8.Qxd4. its like black hasn't started yet to play...

my mephisto milano pro is about 2150 ELO and it would tear that excalibur to shredded pieces...seriously..it made many weak moves and left holes and files unprotected...first bad move is taking with Bishop from g7...12 Bc4 ok but maybe Bb5 faster kill...ur g4 move is nice direct attack, its h5 response is like committing suicide..lol that machine is 1600 at best...maybe exegerated manufacturer rating  when it claims 2200... like citrine supposed to be 2330 hahah its 2000 at best...well its g5 move an other beginners move u own the h file which is absolute disaster for black just occupy it with rook and queen it can just watch u mate it...lol ..good game from u bad game for computer... cheers

maxwellsmarty

Here i played 2 games against the milano pro on saturday giving the machine 20 min...i have to be honest i was thinking way more time like a 60 min game for me  i won both games  but of course depending on my day i lose or draw too...

maxwellsmarty

game with black side 20 min againg for milano pro 60 min for me..

maxwellsmarty

and the one i lost previous day.

ChessforFunn

Hrm.. obviously that GM-CPU is not GM Strength... more like 1400 strength - 1600 at the best. What it has as an edge apparently is memorized openings.

nameno1had

17. Rh1 is better than a3... move 18, you shouldn't have traded Queens...only trade if you have to  36. c5 is bad, it forfeits a pawn for no good reason

In my opinion, you played at about a 1400 level and the program about 1350...

trysts

I think you played at a 1608 ratingWink

MrDamonSmith

Before I looked at any posts, just the game itself, I was thinking the computer seemed like a class D (or C at best). I guess that averages out to a   1400 opinion. Play 10-20 serious, slow games against it under tournament controls and see what your % is against it.

Why are we resurrecting 5 year old threads? The guy asking for the advice hasn't been on in 9 months.

based on THAT game that the poster submitted, I would bet money I can score over 50% vs. that program at that level (verifiable) in a match of best of 6 @ G/120. And any 1230 elo player you saw me play was either that one friendly, unrated game I played or it was a required game in the chess 960 tournament I just entered. sheesh, tough crowd.

MrDamonSmith

By the way Peter Smith, my post was refering to the original posters game that he submitted. I hadnt even seen your games. You must have thought I was talking about YOUR games. No, I hadnt been. But I have looked now that you alerted me to them and now I do have an opinion. What the fugg were you thinkin', are you on crack or somethin' ? Just kiddin', I thought it would be funny to submit that since you stepped into a big pile of poo poo with your mistaken post. Also, vs. that Milano Pro that has an elo of 2150 I would bet money I could win a match against it under tournament conditions.
