I won this game brother, it's always easier to post a 12 move win than a 12 move loss :-) If you have teachings on this game and how black's play can be improved on please share your knowledge and opinions.

Just a tip: Don't post the loser's name. You never know who might come on here.
But usually that isn't a problem, so whatever.
Was the game unrated though? I don't think a 1700 would play like that normally.

You put a regular nice Knight mate, indeed.
The Smothered mate can be happen only by Knight, but even not every Knight mate is a Smothered one, as only when all squares around the King are blocked by the pieces or the pawns, but no one of them can prevent mate.
/Technically, I can see here, that it is possible, that the blocking pieces may include not only own pieces and pawns, but the attacker pieces and pawns, also, if they are protected and safe from the King close attack, and when they are not giving the check or mate by own power!..
So, again, the King, Queen, Rook, Bishop, and Pawn cannot makes the Smothered mate, and only the Knight can do it in very rare special cases, when all squares around the King are blocked by pieces.

- Thanks for the comments guys. Awardchess yes you are correct only the knight can deliver a smothered mate. I was previously under the misconception that a mate in which all the flight squares of the king were blocked with pieces was a smothered but this is not so.

Yes I have already stated that you are correct and it's not a smothered mate Awardchess, thanks for your input. Please don't start trolling this thread or I may be forced to post the 960 game we recently played in which I checkmated you in 7 moves with a bishop. Or perhaps the standard game in which I crushed you with white in a kings gambit and the game was effectively over on move 5. Your knowledge of terminology is clearly superior to your ability to play a good game.
