I think 4. ... Qa5 is stronger (much like the scandinavian). How much stronger is the other player, and in what time control did this game took place? Seems like he might have underestimated you and played somewhat weakly.

do you mean Qa4?? That would have only been blocked , letting him develop his pieces faster. I am not familiar with the scandinavian and would have not known the basic theories. The other player was approximately 100 points higher and it was turn based 3 days.
