Traxler Counterattack Game

5.d4 loses all of white's advantage
white instead should play 5.Bxf7+ or the line I play
5.Nxf7 Bxf2+ 6.Kxf2 Nxe4+ 7.Ke3!?
Personally, I love to see players brave enough to use the Traxler.

I use it every chance I get. I usually lose, but what fun games!

Your note on 16. Bf3 is incorrect. You say your opponent missed mate-in-1 with Qc5. However, there is the block Be3 so it is actually mate in two. (This is also shown in the game notation- 16... Qc5+
6.kf1 is more accepted as good practice by theory as opposed to your opponents 8.kxf2( you saved your queen earlier than the sac, which isn't so common, but makes very little difference.) Plus, 5.d4 is terrible, because that pawn is needed by white to kick the knight when he eventually hops to d4 himself. The traxler is a tightrope for both teams;
anyone fancy playing me as white?

So what? Qc5+ is an unstoppable checkmate, so it IS mate in 1
Incorrect. It is mate in two. That's like saying a forced mate-in-ten combination is a mate in one.
