Woefully unsound sacrifice ending in aesthetically pleasing finish

Sort:
Silfir

Lessons from the game:

- I need more practice, experience and training in tactics, theory or whatever it is that leads me to make unsound sacrifices, rather than calmer play. Or more sleep.

- Sacrifices always put psychological pressure on the defender. I know that from failing to defend several games in which I was on the receiving end of the sacrifice. It was nice to benefit from it for a change.

- If you're ahead in material, but being attacked, don't be afraid to give back some of that material to stop the attack dead in its tracks. If you're up a minor piece, giving up an exchange will often still leave you with an advantage, since two minor pieces are much stronger than a rook in the middlegame.
