My rating is 1365. I started at about 400 so I have come a very long way. When I reached the rating 700 I though I was pretty good now I look back on that and see how terrible of a player I was. If my rating ever gets to 1900 I will look back and see how bad I actually was even though now I think I am a pretty decent player. It is all very relative. The problem that most beginner players have including my self is blundering or making tacitcal errors. That is one of the hardest things in chess to overcome. Someone can know all the opening theory and defensive strategys but still have a hard time with not blundering pieces. Just keep plugging away!

Once you get 1900, u will know how terrible you are too.
2800+ rated GM knows how terrible they are too.
Most people think Stockfish (chess engines) are like GoD, but programmers know how terrible Stockfish is too.

Unless you say something funny! Then come on in.

It's hard to say because it's all relative.
1200 might make you the best player in your home, among your friends, or even your neighborhood or school. You've improved a lot from the time you were a beginner and probably like chess a lot.
If you go to a local tournament, the median might be around 1500-1700, so you'll be on the lower end.
I don't know about a scholastic tournament. I'd guess average to high average. And a lot depends on how young a person starts and how much organized work they put into it.
