The usual answer is to stick with general opening principles and concentrate on tactics until you are above 1500 (I think that is the level).
Congrats by the way, always good to see solid, steady improvement, isn't it?

Thanks, and yes it is nice to see.
One of the approaches to reach 1500+ is to study PIN strategy. People with under 1500 do not know that strategy.
This could be the peak of your chess journey. There is less oxygen the higher you climb, therefore a greater chance of brain damage. Is that what you want?
Yes, lots more 30/0 live games + review with a chess program (i email games then import into the chessPro app on my iPhone) to see where you are going wrong, read a good positional/strategy text like Silman's reassess your chess to understand strategy and then as much tactical puzzles as possible until you can see a possible knight/pawn fork, revealed attack and/any other tactical attack (even simple counting) at least one or two ply before it happens and quickly enough that you can do all of this in a 30/0 game... I have not yet mastered this, and I play 3 pints of beer deep in my 30/0 games, but even I am now knocking on the 1500 door...
Ok,
So recentely I just hit 1300 rating in live *standard* chess, (pretty much the only game type I play). Anyway my question is what do I need to do to reach the heights of 1500+? I am thinking about buying a chess book and learning some solid oppenings and decreasing the amount of blunders I make. Any advice?
