the championship had ten draws
1.e4 is drawish?

Nope. e4 isn't drawish - in fact I have lost most games playing e4. Case rested.
me too. I change my openings every time.
That is why the grob was invented
How would you answer 1 g4, g5 for White`s second move?
miley cyrus
In answer to what? She`s nice to look at, I`ll grant you that, although you are far prettier.

"The most significant phenomenon of the last few years has been the Berlin Variation, putting an end to nothing less than the move 1.e4." - GM Sergey Shipov (~2013)

Does this means 1/2 - 1/2 (which is normal) or 0 - 1 as a result of e4 ?
It seems like that in the moment most grandmasters avoid really sharp positions. Most of the time 1.c4, 1. Nf3-g3, 1.d4 is played. And even if 1.e4 is played most of the time GMs play d3 in the ruy lopez or italian game. Just look at the games of the world cup. So many Italian games with d3.
The rest where catalans, queens gambit, and other quees pawn stuff.
The September 2017 issue of Chess lists the top twenty openings compiled from a list of 2798 July games where both players were rated over 2400 Elo. One can not take position on this list too seriously because it is greatly influenced by how the openings are grouped. For example, all the Retis are grouped together, while English is separated into 1...c5, 1...e5, etc. Nevertheless, for what it is worth, some of the list entries are: 177 Retis, 122 Caro-Kanns, 121 King's Indians, 114 declined Queen's Gambits, 98 Najdorf Sicilians, 97 Slavs, 77 Nimzo-Indians, 70 1...e5 Englishes, 64 1...c5 Englishes, 63 Queen's Indians, 62 Closed Ruy Lopezes, 57 Berlin Ruy Lopezes, 56 Classical Gruenfelds, 55 Tarrasch Frenches, 48 1...Nf6 Englishes, and 44 Kan Sicilians.

Hello everyone, I would like to say that e4 isn't drawish. Even d4 is drawish if u want to draw. In Ruy Lopez one can also play 4.d3 to avoid Berlin. It does not depend on the opening u play. The only important factor that decides the game is the will. I can also think d4 is losing if I think (in fact I do).
Picking the good chess opening is important if you want to be successful in your chess career. Studying an opening is a major commitment, which is why it is important to look at all different openings and find which one suits you best.
