I think the only good thing comeing out of an e4 opening is that you open your bishop and queen. I say d4 is by far the best opening because ofall the gambits and it is already proctected by a peice. 1.e4 is burden to protect and yah i now all the gambits you get. But it might just come back to haunt you because your opponent might play the sicilionor alkehine defence.

In Basic terms black has to many comebacks to 1.e4

I understand your point, however, there are some chief ideas coming from E4 besides the queen and bishop, one being that d4 is much more easily pushed later in the game due to it being protected by the queen where in d4 games the e pawn usually ends up on e3.  Also, it always the white bishop to be developed quickly and allows for faster castling, not allowed by D4.  There are lots of ways to play against E4 but that really doesn't matter because E4 still stays strong and the most played so obviously it's coming from somewhere :P  I play E4 90% of the time and have very good results from it.  For black against E4 I either play the sicillian dragon or the french defence.

lol at this topic! maybe you should look into 1. e4 before you start bashing it. and with your rating it looks like d4 isn't working too well for u either :p anyways, there are arguments for every opening. and typically 1. e4 and 1. d4 are most common openings

e4 is best by test!

I like the tactical play on both sides. Right after move one almost any square can be under attack or taken control of in the game.
