How do you correct the 404 error?

SoupTime4

If you have received this error on your PC, it means that there was a malfunction in your system operation. Common reasons include incorrect or failed installation or uninstallation of software that may have left invalid entries in your Windows registry, consequences of a virus or malware attack, improper system shutdown due to a power failure or another factor, someone with little technical knowledge accidentally deleting a necessary system file or registry entry, as well as a number of other causes. The immediate cause of the "404" error is a failure to correctly run one of its normal operations by a system or application component.

You don't fix it. 404 means the page doesn't exist under the URL you're trying to reach.

OldSaltyDog

wow thank you

I guess I should say it's possible what you clicked on has moved, so if you can figure out what changed you can get there, but sometimes it's just gone.

Is it possible to delete the tournament and make it again for today thus creating a new link?

But this is a real URL with error 404

That's not a real URL to a site resource.

That's because it wrote chess.com/forum/view/general/404-error?68382705&page=1#comment_box/chess.com/messages instead of just chess.com/messages even though that's not what I wrote as the URL.

Please, mr Martin, there was a page, “missing page” where I could type a username to find a certain player. I used it for the last time couple mounts ago. Now i get : oops, it doesn’t exist ( 404).
My question is: where can I find a player if I have his/her username only? I play on iPad.
Thanks 🌹

You can type the URL as on your last post, bit will get a 404 if the username doesn't exist.

Another option to search usernames is Social > Members and the search option on the website. On the apps, Android at least, More > Friends

I didn't make any moves in two games, but the points were taken from me

If you're have a high disconnect/abort rate, you can lose points when not making any moves.

Tip:
When you just created your account on chess.com and after clicking on profile there is going be error 404. If you want to fix that you must go to your email and find account verification email from chess.com, then click on it and continue verifying your chess.com account. If this is done come back to chess.com and when you click profile everything should be good.
This is how I fixed the 404 error code on chess.com.
