There should not be takebacks. It's up to the player to avoid a misclick.

why? because it's fair? wouldn't it be fairer to account for human error?

Why do you think human error should be accounted for?

it's unrelated to the game. low chances of this example happening aside, if a player passes out during a tourney, does everyone go "oh, well, guess he didn't practice enough. skill issue."?

Take backs in unrated Daily games are an option. For rated live games it probably won't ever be an option. Not sure if it's on the roadmap for live unrated.

That said, it seems a lot of take back requests would fall under blunders that turn into misclicks after the fact. 🤔

He practised too much and didn't take care of his health, skill issue

Human nature

It's only a game. Nothing to get so upset about. Being diagnosed with cancer? Finding out that a loved one has to be confined to a nursing home because of dementia? These are things to get emotional about. Not making a misclick in an online chess game.

thanks for the suggestion but i'll kindly disregard that and get emotional about losing 45m of my day for no reason. if anything, everyone else is treating the game as a sacred religion that shouldn't be tarnished by a simple courtesy that you'd give irl, and getting emotional over that.

GreninjaPokemon99

Everyone makes mistakes bc we aren't perefct but i feel you i misclick all the time.

If you're playing chess, you're pretty much wasting your time already. You just seem upset about the unfairness of the outcome. More time has been wasted on this sob session than on the game itself by now. Time to move on.

Do you mean the opponent have the right to reject a take back? if so then I don't see why they don't have this feature implemented like lichess. Although don't ever think that other players will forgive you from a queen misclick, you already wrote in your bio pondering the optimal queen blunder

Sharp2Axe

Just use Lichess. It has takeback!

If you go to Settings/Live Chess/Move Method you can choose "Click Squares". Then all you have to do is click the start square and then the destination square. No drag and drop. If you are using this setting, then how is it that you manage to click the wrong square?

I could get emotional misclicking if my opponent said "Beat me in chess or I kill your family" and the threat was credible enough, but I seriously doubt that was the case for OP. This seems like something that would be posted on r/mildlyinfuriating

you heard it here, folks. nothing should ever change because if you don't like something, you're just wasting time with sob stories.

and if you're not at work, you're probably already wasting time so can you complain if your boss decides you don't get weekends off anymore? i mean... you were gonna waste that time anyway. oh, but you get a few hours off for eating and chores and etc.

if it's not painfully obvious, you don't get to decide what meaning i attribute to my time. everyone's giving such good life advice and spiritual insight about me yet seems unable to find one good reason why you shouldn't be able to at least ask your opponent for a take back.

I wish I could press Reset on a number of my games. Maybe even Delete.

Is that "enable pre-move?" in the live settings?
