Qa5 is the only attempt. You have to play it

It doesn't matter if Qe7 is technically the best move it's just the same as resigning. You'll be a piece down without white even needing to think

I don't know about all that? I know black doesn't get rook with qe7 but I am thinking trade Qs and avoid mate. But if white is up a bishop I see what you're saying.

Only thing I dislike about these games on the forum is there is no tally so I don't know (without paying attention) who has material advantage. 🧐

Yeah at nonos level, being a bishop down is the same as the game being over lol. Blacks mistake was 26. Qb4 he could've went Qc7 instead

True true

Nice game nono. On 29 I probably would have went dxe5 instead of bringing N up and changed everything. That was a very nice game.

Black could have moved 27...qe7 and saved some trouble, I think.

Wouldn’t dxe5 just be losing?

I've no clue I was just saying the move I would have likely made in the game. Don't be surprised or discouraged by my choice. Haha

That's why I said nice game...good moves.

I was waiting for something to dry in a wood shop and it was very noisy and I was playing on my phone, which is small and didn’t give me good board vision, but I simply cannot believe this is 1500

It was a decent game, I think you shouldn’t have pushed your queenside knight or let their queen check you on the back rank, but come on move 23 hurt me

yea it was a pretty bad under 1k game rated game, but he didnt see the bishop move in move 24 fortunately grin.png

I missed a queen sac on move 30 and saw it right after, could have gotten a brilliant, and I think move 18 at least should have been great instead of best. This was the Sicilian line we talked about earlier, forgot the first move and played Nc6 instead of e6, but still remembered to push d4.
Avatar of Etymologist35

Yes it looks like 18 allowed you to capture castle. We can call it great or even brilliant. 😏

My only criticism would be that you should have pushed c pawn before they blocked but not sure what deep analysis would show. Might be trouble?

Tough game Fras! I don't see the TC and I wonder if the clock influenced resignation or it was simply the position. GG

The reason you won is because they didn't play the Adkins Attack

It was 10|0, but I was up a bunch and at this level it’s basically game over.

Just got a book called how to reassess your chess 4th edition and I also saw a cool book at the store called modern chess openings and it seemed very thorough on the Sicilian, have any of you read either book. The reassess your chess book was used and really good deal. happy.png is buying a book to learn the Sicilian worth it? I was surprised when I got into chess their selection at the bookstore, they even had a few hundred page book on the alekhine defence of all openings. 👍

I actually have Modern Chess Openings, it's a blue book right? Honestly I wouldn't recommend it, all the top players say it's out of date. Also it's just a bunch of notation and it doesn't actually explain the intricacies of the position

It is the blue book. It said it was updated from something, but I did notice it was 90% notation with just a few explanations. How would you go about learning the Najdorf? I also saw a book called Sicilian tactics but it seemed like mostly puzzles that were many moves deep. How did you learn Najdorf?

I got my friend who is like 1900 FIDE to teach me some of it. Also when i'm bored (like now) I go into stockfish and just plug in a bunch of new lines I wanna try. I think playing the open Sicilian as white as well can boost ur knowledge of the Sicilian in general. OH AND ALSO get Chessbook the app. It's free and it allows u to do really cool stuff, like making an opening repetoire.

Thanks! I imagine you’re going to be my 1900 friend in this scenario. Also I will try chess book, and I do use an engine often

You use an engine often? Very interesting... time to start the procedure...
