Threading though old books pertaining to the Spassky -Fischer rematch. I came across a line where in the great kasparov commented "Every average player knows now what Fischer knew then". What then are average players during that time? ANd how are they compared to the average players now?Hmmmm.

remember kasparov considers almost everyone above 2700 as avergae, and only classed, i think 3 as 'real chess players'.

So, yeah a 2700 probably knows what he knows, but it doesnt mean they can play like him (though this is debatable)
