Absolutely fed up with chess.

I've been playing for 3 years in total The first year I rose from like 800 rating to 1200 rating. The second year I got to 1500. The third year I fell to 1400. No matter what I do I am just permanently stuck at this rating.

I have read all the books, watched all the videos. My problem is this. Chess hurts my brain. I get brain fatigue and I can't see the right moves. Sometimes even looking at the chess board physically hurts. I hate this game and I am addicted to playing even though I know I will lose. I have lost the psychological battle as soon as my opponent plays the English opening or Queens pawn opening, I may as well resign on the spot. I spend 5 minutes thinking of a move while my opponent of a similar level can blitz me and win in 20 seconds. I feel completely dumb and inadequate.

Everyone is better than me and the worst part is, they're not even chess nerds, they look more attractive than me in their pictures and probably have a really nice life whereas I not only suck at chess but everything else too.

IDK what to say, but the rapid average is 637, half of your rating.

Yes but your rating is 1900. That is something to be proud of. Nobody cares about a 1400 player, it's just another average Joe. I will never be able to be as good as you no matter what. And this happens to me across all walks of life I'm sick of being a nobody.

another thing is, don't let Elo discourage you, I tend to do this as well where I get discouraged by my rating instead of worrying about how your rating defines you, just have fun, ignore Elo, don't focus so much on it, elo doesn't mean anything except as a way to show improvement, but you can show improvement without it, don't be so hard on yourself.

It helps to remember that it's just a board game. Relax man

It's okay to take breaks from chess. If you're feeling burned out or frustrated, step away from the game for a while. Engage in other activities that bring you joy and relaxation.

3 years and only 600 games, no offense but you should probably get in the trenches and play more if you want to improve... It's not just simply reading books, training tactics and watching videos. I have close to 7k games ever since i started approximately 2 years ago in between my lichess account and my other rapid only chess.com account and currently sit at 1900, it'll be super frustrating some days but you'll start seeing improvement as long as you analyze your games and correct your previous mistakes. And trust me when i say you'll want to scream or break something when you hit a slump and rage queue so i suggest if you do end up following my advice and play more and end up tilting super hard after stupid losses and mistakes just analyze previous games don't be like me and keep playing, you'll go crazy. happy

Perhaps you are using chess as a vindication of your existence by comparing yourself to others. Chess should be enjoyed. If you win that is sufficient, if you lose you have fresh study material. We are all on the great spectrum of ability that were we to judge ourselves to others, we would always be wanting...Ultimately, computers make the very best of us look like idiots...

Happiness is not found comparing yourself to others.

Have fun.

If you’re not enjoying chess then what’s the point.
