Abuse of vacation time.

I do not know if any one else has ever had a predicament like this. I started playing an opponent on February 10th, one move per 3 days. This game has still not finished, I will make a move, he will wait three days and then go on vacation for 7 or 8 days. He will then make 1 move and repeat what he did before. I have one week before I go on vacation and I will finish all my other games by then, I will have to use my vacation time or forfeit the game. Anything I can do?

He's only wasting his own time JinLun, don't sweat it carry on as normal and when he moves just make your move. It sounds like you will have to use your own vacation time though.

Resign. It will cost you maybe 20 points. The way I figure it - we all have a couple of free wins from people who started a gene with us and lost interest after a couple of moves. I "spend" those points to remove myself from annoying game situations. You'll get the points back before you know it.

I have been playing on chess.com for about 5 months now...and have decided to use some of my accrued vacation time to take a couple of days each weekend during the summer months. The reason I want to 'go on vacation' and not just leave the games running (usually 3 days/move)is so I can 'switch off' from my games for a couple of days as I find if I just leave them running I will keep coming back to them..on my computer..on my phone, ipad  etc.

I still use chess.com whilst on these 'weekend vacations' to post stuff, study chess, play vote chess, read group notes etc.

While I'm playing during the week I am what is called a very fast player <3 hours (actually 2 h 45m) , making at least a move a day per game and usually more.

Is this vacation abuse??...I don't think so and it is for me a good way to manage my thinking time...

I would be interested in others opinions on this...

If you read my comments at the top of this page you will see that your circumstance and the one I was describing are not the same, this player was playing very fast untill he started to loose, then what I described above started to happen.
