I might have worked it out now …. Am I right in thinking that each group member automatically gets sent an invite, and the match starts when enough have signed up from each side?
Accepted a team challenge .. but how does it work?

I think there's a setting to auto start, else both teams have to lock the team, and then it will start
Would some kind person direct me to the “help” section for team challenges? I couldn’t find it by searching …… and don’t have a clue how to proceed
