I didn't poison that man.

He just drank the tea I offered to him

He is to blame.

I accused some nitwit of using an engine and he resigned straight away!

People accuse me of using an engine all the time (relatively speaking) and I remind them that public accusations are against the terms of service, then I give them the link if they want to report me.

That's pretty funny considering you are a NM

to give credit, ozzie was the first that i read with the suggestion of giving the opponent the link to report, years ago.

If someone says I'm cheating, I usually report them.

Well, I'm sure you can find something in the member conduct section that could almost match

Right! People who accuse another user of cheating are bad players.

The good players don't accuse. They go and quietly report the offender.

Then, more often then not, an account is closed.

Good players can "smell" fishy play and behavior.

Be a good player.

the sneak behind their back and accuse them to staff instead of having the guts to tell them straight. aw gee this place is wimpy.

I find it interesting to point out to those poor sports that accuse normal people,ie not grandmasters, of cheating ,the rediculousness of what they are saying. which engine am i using to achieve my 1800 rating. maybe an old comadore 64 from the 1980's? Don't all engines have ratings greater than 2500 nowday's? Thougtless people hear of the possibility of using an engine to cheat and are outraged and fearfull but how much mousework can a man do in a 5 or 10 minute game. Perhaps chess.com should keep track of serial accusers and send them a polite logical letter like this one to remind them that they are only embarassing themselves

Right - you don't want to argue. You just want to neutralize a cheater.

The point is that I have nothing to talk about with a cheater. I just don't want him here - so the person to contact is chess.com cheat detection.

I come here to play chess with like minded people - not to be dragged down into slurring, accusations, bad feel etc. I have no time for that. Do you?

Avatar of solskytz

And people who cheat don't do it to achieve a rating of 1800. They know that from 2000 and upwards all games are monitored - so they cheat in some games, and in some games they don't, and they keep their rating below 2000.

Not many people do that, but it's better to do without those who do.
