Adding Variations to Blogs?

How do you add variations to blog posts or in game showcase? (The text with moves that could have been made in blue or red). Thank you.

This is what works for me.

Instead of adding the game as a PGN when prompted to, choose to add each individual move, and you should get a board like this one.

Making a move on this board makes it show up in the white box in the upper-right hand corner. If you click the back arrow (circled), the move will be taken back, but will remain in the white box.

If you make a move in this situation, the move will appear blue and in parenthesis: an alternative to the move that was just played.

I'm not sure about the red moves, but I know what you mean when you say that.

Hope this helped you.

If you make a different move instead of the move on the PGN, it should show up as a variation automatically.

the red moves are when you make a variation from the blue colored variationLaughing

If you have your own chess software use that and when you're done click on "copy game"  and then paste it into the game editor.

Click on "Game or sequence of moves" in the chess editor here and then click on "Use pgn file" with windows CTRL-V will paste the entire game and notes into the editor.

If you don't have any chess software and you do  have a PC or MAC get some freeware almost anything is an improvement on the game editor here, it's a nice feature but even the most rudimentary DB or chess program is better to use with way more screen space to work with.
