If you and your buddies typically put in 2 or 3 hours a week into chess, and you've been doing it for a year or two, then advanced may be 1300.
If you and your buddies are regularly going to tournaments and putting in 2 to 3 hours a day, then it's going to be higher.
If you've been studying and playing for 10 years it's going to be higher.
etc.
"advanced" is relative... and you know, if someone is only playing + working on chess 2 hours a week, and they're 1300, then to me that's respectable, even impressive, but anyone who can't beat me at least 50% of the time I'm not going to think of as "advanced."
