Johnny Walker came strutting down the bar,

To me it's interesting that after Prohibition passed, there was no money to be made by lecturing on the subject and the native Drys had to actually get jobs!

I wonder about Frau Alekhine and her globe-trotting do-goodism. She came to the US to bother people with Abolitionism and then went to the USSR to see what a wonder was unfolding there. Having seen it and its less than stellar outcome, she got disaffected there too. There's a lesson in there someplace, but I'm probably too drunk to figure it out.

Really? That's what that reporter had to tell about Alekhine? Not that he was like, ruling world champion? Weird... 

But funny to read now, I didn't know Alekhine played with so much swag.
