So it always struck me that to throw all your pieces into a mate attack there isn't much left over to rule the kingdom afterward. Maybe a rook and a pawn. A lonely king? Very rarely any Knights or clergyman. Live to fight another day is a game where you have to play the same opponent twice with the same set of pieces. In Some cases it might be smart to resign or offer draw so you can live to fight another day. Stupid?
