Sorry, ATC97. But you're completely off here.
Nothing strange happened in that game. So he used a minute and a half. So what. He could easily play 3 games in the 3 minutes left. I assure you he had his reasons, whatever they are.
The commentators were just creating some "spectacle" for the viewers.
How can this hole in is theory be sooooo bad? I mean it's blitz. I mean had he lost, we'd be in agreement. Right? :)

You don't know that. You assume that EDIT: (he had a hole in his theory). You have no idea what he was thinking about. A real chessplayer doesn't just bang out his moves just because he happens to know the theory. I can think of many reasons he took that time.
EDIT: And no agreement. The result is irrelevant for my opinion on what happened.
