agree. if you try the iPhone app and then use this same app on android, it is day and night. android app is sh1t compared to iPhone app which rocks.

I really do agree with this. Is there somebody official we can raise a concern with. I am a premium paying member who has always used Android and I mainly use it on my phone. I feel IOS users get a lot more bang for their buck in regard to what at times is almost like a different app. New features roll out far faster on IOS compared to Android. I am still waiting for puzzle rush on Android when last year I was told it would be early this year?? No amount of bugs could delay something that long! It is so frustrated to be treated like second rate users!!!

Rodolfo_tp

Totally agree. The Android app is a shame, lacks so many features available on the website.

Do you know where the best place to raise this issue would be? It seems Chess.com will ignore it unless we make some noise about it?

If you read the monthly updates, you would know they are reportedly very close to completing a major upgrade of the Android app.

Android

Work proceeds on several excellent initiatives you'll see in near-future releases, including:

  • Issues with notifications
  • Computer analysis
  • Game-over UX improvements
  • Adding Puzzle Battle!

Does the above constitute a major android update - Those updates still don't bring it on par with the IOS update from last year!! If anything it just highlights the original point that Android users are being treated like second best. I agree it's better than nothing and perhaps their main market is geared towards IOS users which is fine and a perfectly good selling model to target the majority of their users. Chess.com has been good to me and I would never just needlessly lash out at them but now that I know that I am not getting the same as IOS users for paying the same diamond yearly subscription I just won't be renewing it! Unfortunately my chess is not at a level where I can start tailoring my equipment towards my chess, it's the other way around and I also can't justify paying the same premium for a second rate app just because of my mobile OS. I have no issue with the premium and would prefer that the standard is raised on Android but failing that the price would have to be lowered for Android users.

I know I read somewhere from a staff member last month that they were doing a complete rewrite of the Android app and that it was close to completion.

Also I use an Android and play both games and puzzle Rush using the chrome browser.

Well if you find that i'd appreciate the link because I've read nothing at all to that effect and I remember the IOS overhaul was heavily advertised in the lead up to the roll out..

I'm curious what will come out of all this because the apps have cost about 550 bullet Elo in the past lol. Something weird in their time code or whatever, plus they could not do multiple premoves, plus I never figured out if there was a trick like ALT on the keyboard to underpromote. Luckily a 24 hour speedrun returned my rating to a more respectable 2320

Thanks a lot. Appreciate the link. I sincerely hope they do have it rolled out before the end of the year.

The games in news and articles, for example from all the tournaments, are not complete in the Android APP. It stops after 8, 9 moves.

https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/puzzle-rush-on-android  CEO Erik said three days ago that the upgrade is coming out in the next two weeks!
