Annoying ads

Does the management actually make a profit with those flashing ads?  Or (and i suspect as much) are they just trying to annoy the player into paying for a subscription.  Or both.  If so, it might be working.  I was answering a forum topic when a highly annoying ad flashed up in my face inviting me for the thousandth time to check my credit score.  Trying to x out of it, I xed out of the site my mistake and had to get back on and retype the whole thing, and of course I was asked again to check my credit score.  Seriously, does anyone playing chess on chess.com, confronted with these ads, think:  "Gee, I'll drop everything and check my credit score right now!"  I guess i'll just have to pay.  If only there were a way to do the same for football games, then i'd only have to watch for a half hour and not listen to those moron announcers telling us that someone "will have to step up" to win the game.

Only rambling.

You don't have to listen to that Dunedin dweller Smile

No more ads!

Chess.com really need to start moderating ads. Just a while ago I accidently clicked on an ad, then a window pops up telling me firefox is out-of-date and I need to install the latest version. Probably nothing more than spyware.

I think, just like on alot of websites, the ads need to be filtered more to prevent situations like chessph said above.

Or you can just buy a membership. If the ads are such a huge deal for you, but you dont want to spend too much money, just buy a gold membership. You get decent pirks, and no ads. Wink

I agree. They should filter these ads. Regardless of what membership I have, I don't want to spend time removing viruses or malware.
