You’re supposed to play d4 not Nc3...
Any recommended openings that I should use?

You can play pretty much whatever you want. Keep mixing things up until you find something that you like, and then you can stick with it. I personally enjoy the Reti, KIA, English, Ruy Lopez, Open Sicilian (from both sides), Caro, Scandinavian, Two Knight's Attack against the French and Caro, etc. If you're interested in any of those, I can give you resources I used for them. But it really just comes down to what you enjoy.

Use an opening that you are familiar and comfortable with or, if you're unfamiliar with openings we teach juniors these for starters
Giuoco Piano 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5
Ruy Lopez 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5
Queen's Gambit Declined 1.d4 d5 2.c4
Sicilian Defence 1.e4 c5
and then move to whatever the individual feels familiar and comfortable with.
