Think long and hard to avoid any calculatory fallacies (blunders), and always have an understanding of the position. Also, set it on a setting low enough for you to win at least 25% of the games you play, but no more than 50%.

play more against humans. you'll learn and appreciate more. if you enjoy playing computers any way then I'll advise you to play slower and think through your moves even though CPU may be responding fast to your moves.
