Opening Principles:

1. Control the center squares – d4-e4-d5-e5

2. Develop your minor pieces toward the center – piece activity is the key

3. Castle

4. Connect your rooks

Tactics...tactics...tactics...

Pre Move Checklist

1. Make sure all your pieces are safe.

2. Look for forcing move: Checks, captures, threats. You want to look at ALL forcing moves (even the bad ones) this will force you look at, and see the entire board.

3. If there are no forcing moves, you then want to remove any of your opponent’s pieces from your side of the board.

4. If your opponent doesn’t have any of his pieces on your side of the board, then you want to improve the position of your least active piece.

5. After each move by your opponent, ask yourself: "What is my opponnet trying to do?"

Middlegame Planning

1. Expand your position:

a. Gain more space.

b. Improve the position of your pieces.

2. Decide on what side of the board to play.

a. Queenside: a-c files.

b. Center: d-e files.

c. Kingside: f-h files.

Compare, space, material, and weakness(es)

3. DO NOT HURRY.  Regroup your pieces, and be patient.

reminds me of time when i was stuck at 450 , btw i am going to stop blitz after exams. #1 Solve puzzles , they really help... i prefer puzzles from lichess as you don't have membership #2 focus on development, not on learned openings. This tip was shocking for me in beginning. But i soon realised tactics are much better than learned lines #3 Analyse every game (especially after losing) by yourself... i repeat by yourself #4 Try playing longer games , you can go for 10 min or 5 min blitz , your rating will be same #5 Think before making any move

Agreed , but using it in quick games is pretty difficult, so i prefer 10min or rapid

Study tactics by fundamental way first. Look at what is a fork, pin, skewer, double attack etc. After doing these, you can now solve chess tactics problem everyday. Solve problems that not only mate the king, but also solve problems that wins material. When you solve problems, try as hard as you can at finding the solution.

Study the general opening principles.

Study basic kind and pawn endgames.

Additional tips:

Always look at the whole board to see piece positioning

Always study your opponent's last move

Before you make a move, check if there is a tactical drawback

If you need to calculate, then do it.
