anyone have difficulty on real boards vs computer ones?

For some reason, whenever I play on a real life chess board I make silly mistakes, like not seeing a bishop accross the board and losing my queen. Anyone else have this trouble? I've only played a few games on a real board so maybe it's something I just have to get used to

When I first started playing over the board I found 3Dness of it extremely confusing. Managed to get used to it. Actually play better over the board now - easier to concentrate.

Yea me too. It seems to be a bit harder on real board than the computer one.

The complete opposite with me, I am a much stronger player at OTB format.  I blunder constantly on internet chess, I'm not sure if its the 2D or if I don't concentrate hard enough, who knows.

I think it's just what you're used to. I learnt on a real board many years ago and still find that easier despite being quite "computer literate" otherwise. I will always transpose a difficult puzzle or position from the screen onto a real board to think. You do need a fairly standard looking (Staunton) chess set though - very ornate / decorative ones make it harder.

Opposite for me, I play better OTB. But I think this mostly just has to do with playing OTB, usually tournaments, there's an incentive to try. So im probably ok with both.
