Apart from boxing, what else would combine well with chess?
I would think the more often you got punched in the head, the worse you would play chess.

That being specifically the point of chess-boxing. The 1st round is boxing , an attempt to disrupt your thinking in the 2nd round. .. chess. If chess started 1st... you're not going to disrupt the opponents thinking in the 2nd round of boxing. He'll beat you to a pulp anyway.
I played chess with a fellow, who was an ex boxer. Actually went into training for the event before it was discontinued. I don't believe there were any weight divisions.
The winner of the last event was a light-heavyweight with a 1800 rating as I recall. Amature boxer with quite a few rounds under his belt.
Brains and Brawn was the promotional title. A few rounds of boxing followed by x amount of time on the chess clock. Winner declared by knock-out or checkmate. See post # 13
chess would go well with sack races or egg and spoon races. that's how to get school kids really upbeat about a game with a Bronx type reputation.
Definitely Table Tennis
Not with that opening, egoole; you left your rook on h1 hanging - and don't you have any balls?
You do need a bag obviously and there's no way you can buy one without money, unless you've been using some old gloves with which you were hitting the wall, many many years ago.
Ole Conner has a one track mind, one subject keeps appearing. Anyway, table tennis and chess use the same rating system. Table tennis players are often said to be the best conditioned of all athletes (I concur) while chess to be the most mentally demanding of board games.
