Appending games (in chessbase or Word) to the same file

I would like to have a file that resembles a book chapter, with notation and diagrams, and with several various games in that file.

It would be great if it was done in chessbase, so move inputting as well as diagram inputting is easy.

However, chessbase database "game" supports only one "game" and its lines.
If I have two-three positions, or two games, they do not quite look right for printing if they're a chessbase "game".
Mainly because I do not know of a way to have them show one after another, yet be within the same file (same chessbase "game").
Similarly, if I have two starting positions for pawn endgames, I do not know how to have them show up as one page (one "game").

Can I somehow still do it in chessbase?

As an alternative, what if I wanted to have it as a Word file instead - how would I go on about inserting diagrams into word, what's the easiest way? Can Word files have pgn files embedded?

I think a chessbase type file, with its replayability features, would work best, but maybe a Word document with a pgn file embedded can work instead; although it seems it would be a worse option.

So... Nobody has an idea that would be useful?

Did you ever figure it out or get help? It is a great quest.

Closest to the thing I was looking for, that I found, was copypasting various diagrams from Chessbase into a Word file.
I did not find a way to do it in chessbase, and it is unlikely it exists.

I think, although I am not sure, that a PGN file wouldn't be able to do it, either.

I think, though, that a series of PGN files in SCiD would be potentially useful.

It seems less clunky than chessbase, you can go through dozens of them in a short sequence.

I've been looking on and off today.  I have added "text" files to databases.  But your quest seems more friendly.  I do not know SCiD.

I am still studying, more later.

anyone made progress on this?

Stipe24

Yes.
I do have a solid way to do it.

Here is how to generate diagrams from ChessBase:

1) Open a new board
2) Go to the File/Customize menu, then scroll to ‘Copy Position’
3) Input a new shortcut, if there is not one already. (Personally I use Shift+Ctrl+C, but it can be any key combination you want.)
4) Hit ‘Assign’ and ‘OK’.
5) From then on, use your key shortcut to copy any position in CB, then use Ctrl-V to paste the diagram of that position into Word.

Next, you will want to adjust the diagram settings. To do this, take the following steps:

1) Open a database
2) Right click one of the game files, and go to Output/Selection to Text file
3) Go to the ‘Fonts’ menu, click ‘Diagram’, then set the diagram font and size (you may want to experiment with different options to see what works best for you).
4) Go to the ‘RTF’ menu, and you can set the diagram border/coordinates according to your preference.

Thanks! I'll give it a try
