I agree with Reb. If I offer a draw and opponent declines, then I don't offer draws any longer. IMO it would be up to him to offer a draw. I also think it is up to stronger side to offer a draw in situations one think he can not convert an advantage.

Probably just need to lighten up.  On the internet people will offer draws and refuse to resign lost positions.  Don't let it get to you.

So, you're willing to make a suggestion to me on my behavior. Are you willing to make a suggestion to the person offering the draw?

Just say "thanks, I'll think about it" then proceed with the mate....I can't see a problem here.

Shooting your opponent in the face would avoid mate... I don't think that's acceptable either.

I guess I'll be going against the grain here, but I think it's totally acceptable.  Even in a clearly losing position like this, there is a (albeit small) chance that your opponent doesn't see it.  Imagine if Fischer had offered a draw in the game of the century immediately after 16. ... Rfe8.  Byrne surely wouldn't have accepted it (not with that queen sitting there like that).

In my opinion, a draw-offer can be a courtesy toward your opponent, an agreement with your opponent, or a tactic against your opponent.  Why not use anything you can?

It's probably not too appropriate, but it made me laugh.

I wonder how many people have considered trying to guess their opponent's password to thereby go in and resign the game on their behalf.

Or shoot you in the face

The question here is why are you playing chess, just to win???. Ok then, try everything you can if thats what you are pursuing. I personally play chess because i love the intellectual challenge, so losing its sometimes a good thing...

that would be pretty hardcore.  i wonder if that is against the chess.com rules.

If what u says is right, that means the Fide has rules against general etiquette. I think u have to contact with Fide to change this rule if u think it is against etiquette.

Even if I agree with u that continuing to offer multiple draws may be disturbing, but I did not offer so many  draws . It is only 2 times!. I think It is reasonable.

Iam not attacking Loomis personaly. I am just searching for the truth, the same way he does.

It is difficult to assume that your oponent fully understand his losing position, simply because u did not open his brain & read his thought inside his mind!. Why not assume that he is a weak player & can not interpret the position appropriately?! & in this case it is not fair to consider that offering draw from his side is not appropriate.

You did not reply to my 4th point. regarding the relativeness of interpretetion of any position. It differs from player to player depending upon deepness of the knowledge & experience.

Surely an opponent on this website should be playing within the rules of chess. Therefore if its against rule 12.6 (and when there is a forced mate it is against the rule) no its not appropriate.
ivandh

I believe there was another rule of etiquette- don't know if it was or is official- that you may offer a draw no more than twice in a game.

So, according to that rule, your opponent wasn't being rude at all. I still group it with the shooting-in-face rule though.
