Cricket is a sport but I would hesitate to consider the players necessarily athletic.

I honestly could care less what YOU think about this. This thread was for me. Selfish I know, but I'm curious if these people will go so far as to say chess players are athletes. So far I still have slim faith because nobody has been crazy enough to say yes.
Since a growing body of disturbed individuals claim chess is a sport i'd like to take it to the next level and ask the next obvious question on this rickety ladder: Do you consider chess players to be athletes?
