Well, Botvinnik was an engineer, a chess world champion and the teacher of Kasparov and even Kramnik for a while. But no, they're not really very related. Smile

Fom Wiki:

Milan Vidmar (22 June 1885 – 9 October 1962) was a Slovene electrical engineer, chess player, chess theorist, philosopher, and writer. He was a specialist in power transformers and transmission of electric current.

Also the first man to have the kahoonies to play the Budapest in major competion, wiping out Rubinstein :)

I think Tal ,and some other romantic chess player can't remeber him were teachers, Keres and  Euwe were mathematicans, Capablanca chemical engineer etc just search for them

i think yes, especially if you have an advance knowledge in mathematics it became more easier for you to adopt the concept of the game, the odds of formulas.......

Deranged

Okay, this is just a made-up guess on the spot, so don't blame me if it's wrong:

Chess requires calculating moves and using logic. That is basically mathematics. Engineering is based mostly on mathematics. Also teaching requires some sort of initiative and you have to be able to handle the situation no matter how hard it gets, just like an important chess game.

The relation between education and engineering , I found in 2014 through STEM Education  therefore STEM means Science , Technology , Engineering and Math
the following are some linkes for stem education .

I personally know an electrical engineer who has played in tournaments for many years and has never gotten past Class C USCF.  Go figure.
